BAJAJ Autorikshaw ,an Indian product

An Auto rickshaw or tuk tuk (auto or rickshaw in popular parlance) is a vehicle for hire that is one of the chief modes of transport across the Indian subcontinent and many parts of South and East Asia. It is a motorized version of the traditional rickshaw or velotaxi, a small three-wheeled cart driven by a person, and is related to the cabin cycle.
The three wheeler autorickshaw is commonly used in Indian cities as taxi and for commercial transportation. It is an old technology, very easy to repair and very robust, but contributes largely to the known pollution problems in larger Indian cities.
A study shows that over 72% of the pollution in New Delhi was caused by transportation, a large part of it by the autorickshaws and two wheelers, before the current anti-pollution regulations came into force. This situation is still prevalent in other Indian cities
.

In India, Bajaj Auto Ltd. is now producing its auto rickshaw models powered by a direct injection engine made by Orbital Corporation Ltd. in Australia. A fleet of test vehicles was successfully tested in the city of Pune. The two-stroke, direct injection (DI) three-wheeler has greatly improved fuel efficiency and also brought superior performance and convenient features like self-start. The new model will initially be released into the local Pune market with a staged release of the DI vehicles to other cities in India. According to Bajaj, initial customers have enjoyed 30% fuel economy and experienced significantly improved driving characteristics. Eventually, versions running on compressed natural gas and propane will be offered.
